Barcus has performed work for Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR), Kansas City Southern Railroad (KCS), Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad (BNSF), Kansas City Terminal Railroad (KCT), and D&I Railroad as well as several other Shortline Railroads over the last 70 years. Our team is well versed in current railroad regulations and training. Barcus has the ability to perform a variety of tasks that include shoring projects adjacent to railroad lines; bridge tie replacements; and bridge repairs and replacements, just to name a few. With crews specializing in railroad bridge replacements, we minimize the impact on train traffic with bridge replacements (change outs) averaging 12 hours or less. Our contracts range from $50,000 to several million dollars.
Barcus prides itself on experience, alternate means and methods, and Owner collaboration. We regularly team up with railroad design engineers to evaluate construction design and costs. The majority of Barcus’ railroad work has been completed in the Midwest; however we have the ability to travel and have worked in over 40 states.
